Dialogue of Self-Relationship
Augmented Reality & Performance
[ July 2024 ]
Dialogue of Self-Relationships is a real-time performance combining Augmented Reality, dance, and human-computer interaction. We explore the relationships between real dancer, virtual dancer, and the audience. In this context, we investigate the possibilities of identity and perception among them. All these relationships involve the blending and conflict between the real world and the virtual world. Furthermore, this serves as a reflection and speculation on potential issues that may arise in a future digitized society. In addition, the project experimented with choreographing the dance accompanied by the AR production, aiming to explore the most effective workflow.

Dialogue of Self-Relationship [Installation]
Augmented Reality & Installation
[ January 2025 ]
Dialogue of Self-Relationships was privileged to be part of the POLYVERSE Culture & Art Tech Exhibition showcasing from January 24th to February 27th, 2025. The exhibition was hosted by Hong Kong Polytechnic University, curated by Prof. Henry DUH. In this adaptation, the original artwork was transformed from AR-powered live performance to craftsmanship installation integrating AR interaction. This transformative work represented the School of Design & Innovation in China Academy of Art, credited toward Mr. Tongzhou YU. Additionally, space and electronic devices were supported by PolyU Research Centre for Cultural and Art Technology and PolyU-NVIDIA Joint Research Centre.
Crossroad-Phantom Opera
Augmented Reality & Traditional Opera Performance
[ June 2024 ]
Crossroads-Phantom Opera is an experimental performance that combines augmented reality with opera performance. It explores the possibilities of integrating cutting-edge technology into traditional performances, based on the classic Chinese Peking opera Crossroads. In this performance, AR technology is used to recreate one of the core characters as a virtual phantom, who interacts with real opera actors during rehearsals and performances. Additionally, Crossroads-Phantom Opera serves as the precursor and initial inspiration for the project Dialogue of Self-Relationships.
CrossReality-Interfusion
Augmented-Reality Experience & Live Music
[ June 2024 ]
This iteration of CrossReality was honored to be showcased as an experiential work at ICLC 2024 (International Conference on Live Coding), held at NYU Shanghai. The work explores the dynamic interplay between humans and their environment through mixed reality, blurring the boundaries between distinct contexts. The environment is fluid, reshaped by human interaction, while simultaneously influencing perception and movement. In a shared space, participants affect and are affected by each other and the environment, creating a continuous cycle of mutual influence.
CrossReality-Oscillation
Transformative & Interactive Experience
[ January 2024 ]
CrossReality is an interactive experience that merges AR with installed screens, exploring the dynamic relationship between humans and their surrounding environment. Human actions subtly shape the invisible environmental field in real-time, while the field influences their physical perceptions and emotional experiences. The behaviors of participants influence not only their own actions but also the actions and perceptions of others within the shared space. Through their collective movements and decisions, they generate a fluid, ever-evolving impact on the environment.
CrossReality-Resonance
Performance & Live Music
[ July 2024 ]
On July 9, 2024, our work CrossReality was privileged to be presented in the concert hall of Hanyang University as part of the International Computer Music Conference 2024. For this occasion, we reinterpreted the piece to highlight the dynamic interplay between live body movements and real-time electronic music. In this iteration, we delve into the interconnectedness of the human body, artistic artifacts like music, and the fluid, hybrid context, capturing their resilience and inherent unpredictability.
Empitivism Medicine
Interactive Installation
[ May 2024 ]
Empitivism Medicine is an interactive art installation that explores the intersection of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Western medicine, symbolized by empiricism and positivism. Through a dynamic synthesis of these philosophies, it invites contemplation on the complex relationship between medicine, science, and philosophy. More than just a display, the work deconstructs and reimagines empiricism and positivism, encouraging the audience to reflect on the fusion of traditional knowledge and modern science.
Empitivism Medicine was shortlisted for the 14th National Art Works Exhibition, held at the China Art Museum in Shanghai.
CrossReality-Synergy
Augmented-Reality Interactive Installation
[ January 2024 ]
This version presents an interactive game between two individuals, highlighting the dynamic interplay between them and the hybrid, transferable world. Players' actions shape the evolving interplay between virtual and physical realities, immersing them in an unstable, interconnected environment. As they engage, they realize how their behaviors not only transform the mixed reality world but also effect their counterparts' movements and perceptions.
Giggle Ticker
Spatial Application
[ March 2024 ]
Giggle Ticker is a spatial computing app that boosts productivity with an immersive, lifelike character. Acting as a supportive partner, it fosters companionship and equality, transforming routine tasks into opportunities for engagement and self-motivation. Through empathy and intrinsic motivation, it symbolizes diligence and resilience, encouraging productivity via shared experiences and mutual support, not authority. By connecting users with the virtual character, Giggle Ticker redefines work as a collaborative and empowering experience.
Warp Drive
Mixed-Reality Projection Exhibition
[ December 2023 ]
Warp Drive delves into the aesthetic concept of “interstitiality” shared by both space and time. By merging technologies such as autostereoscopic 3D, spatial computing, and the Internet of Things, this work develops a system that channels new visual forces through media extension and computational design. It invites viewers on a multi-sensory journey, immersing them in a transformative experience of cosmic transference across time and space. The work strives to dissolve the boundaries between technology and art, igniting deep reflection and offering an innovative, immersive encounter for its audience.
Thermal Muscle
Speculative Design
[ August 2023 ]
Many extreme athletes are passionate about summit climbing, but it comes with significant safety risks, and we all hope to survive these challenges. The use of Thermal Muscle could provide a solution. Climbers can wear it before a climb to significantly boost their resistance to impacts and freezing temperatures, reducing injury rates and increasing survival chances. It’s the most powerful "life jacket" a climber can have when pushing their limits and embracing their passion.
